MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
Dear Members and Friends,
The 2010 GWS committee looks forward to serving our society and ensuring that our less fortunate members are assisted in every possible way. We would like to welcome our new committee members, Mrs. Sheila Lobo and Mr. Erico Sequeira as well as our Vice Chairman, Mr. Keith Castellino who have joined us with a lot of enthusiasm and ideas which will be of great benefit to the community. I would like to thank Mrs. Lily-anne Fernandes-Ringera, our Secretary, Mrs. Lynette Pereira, committee Member, Mr. Colin Carneiro, our Treasurer and Mr. John Fernandes, the immediate past Chairman whose dedication, support and hard work have been the driving force of the GWS committee over the past years for their continuous support.
One of our goals is to put up a home for the members who need assistance with shelter, medical and basic needs. To achieve this, a lot of time and dedication as well as support from the entire community is required.
The annual administration contribution is a minimum of K.Shs. 1,800/- per working member and this goes a long way in helping our welfare cases. Over the years, the cost of living has increased tremendously and the GWS spends between K.Shs. 50,000/- to K.Shs. 100,000/- monthly for the upkeep of these cases. For those members who wish to bank the admin contribution directly into the GWS account at Imperial Bank, Parklands branch, the account number is 544 022 9001, or alternatively cheques can be dropped at the Goan Gymkhana or Goan Institute to the attention of our Treasurer.

We look forward to seeing you at all our functions.
The official World Goa Day is the 20th of August and this year will be the 10th year! The celebration will be on the 22nd of August 2010 at the Goan Institute, Pangani and will be run by a sub-committee comprising of the representatives from the Goan Institute, Goan Gymkhana, Goan villages/societies alongside the Goan Welfare Society, our aim is to celebrate our culture in pomp and splendour.
